Hi!
I’m using the new “Show Remaining Song and Setlist Time” feature in setlist view, but it seems to be mismatched to the actual time in the project.
For example, I have one song in the project that starts on 0:21 on the Ableton ruler, and ends on 4:18, and yet Ableset reports a duration of 4:12. In later songs in the project, the error is up to even 2 minutes. I’m having this issue in a large project that contains a 2 hour set, where the total time mismatch is about 25 minutes.
I can’t seem to replicate this on a blank project, I tried making a very long project and adding several markers but the time was reported correctly.
Why could this be happening? Thanks in advance!
- OS and Version: Windows 11
- Version of AbleSet: 2.7.4
- Version of Ableton Live: 12.1
Do you have any BPM changes inside tracks? I think ableset calculates track lenght from starting bpm and measure count.
Song Durations
If you want to set the duration of a song manually, you can do so by adding it to the end of the cue in square brackets. For example,
Follow Night [3:20] will set the song’s duration to 3:20 minutes.
This can be helpful for songs with variable tempo for which AbleSet can’t automatically determine the duration.
Hey @Pablo_Fergus,
Could you DM me the project file you’re experiencing these issues with, along with a log package, so I can take a closer look? You can create one by opening AbleSet’s status window, clicking the settings icon on the top right, and then selecting “Create Log Package”.
AbleSet supports songs with changing tempos since version 2.3, so this shouldn’t be an issue usually. My guess is that the tempo information within the project file isn’t interpreted correctly for some reachon.
@Jan_Slawinski thank you for pointing this out, I should update the docs to reflect that AbleSet supports songs with variable tempo
Hi! I didn’t know about the song duration tag, that’s helpful!
But while I do have tempo changes in the project, and in some tracks, the song duration reported on tracks with no tempo changes is also incorrect.
