What tablet do you use on stage?

Hi there

Any advice on what tablets do the job well on stage?
What tablet models do you use, what are the pros/cons?
Any experience and advice would be much appreciated.

Cheers,
Phil

I’ve used an old iPad Mini reliably (don’t really know what model, but i know it’s definitely not one of the newest ones). I think as long as you have a software/iOS that is relatively up to date, it should be fine, because luckily Ableset is network based, so you don’t have to worry about app compatibility.

More important is the means with which you connect the iPad to ableset. Wired is the most secure. So sourcing a decent network switch and adapter is paramount.

I use a 2020 iPad Pro on stage, but any iPad that runs iPadOS 14 or newer should be sufficient.

You can also use Android tablets if you like. As long as they can run a fairly recent version of Chrome, AbleSet will work.

Let me know if this helps!

Just noting here for reference that I previously used an iPad Pro 9.7 (2016) but ran into latency issues for controlling playback when connected via ethernet (which I was able to use Ableset to diagnose with). Upgraded to an iPad Air 5th gen and it’s been working perfectly since then.

Thanks guys. Much appreciated. I will let you know what tablets we tried and how they performed
