Trouble with lyrics generator when drag and drop result on live

Describe your issue here:

I created a big project with 150 multi channel songs. I have maximum 16 tracks.
I use able set to organise my playlist.
I want to use Lyrics generator put all lyrics synchronized with the song. I drag and drop mp3 song on tool and lyrics and I use push button on mouse to set start position and release the button when sentence is over. When the als file is generated for 11th song I want to put it on my live project songs which start at 285 measures for the 11th song. I drag and drop als file on project and live add new track but put my lyrics at the beggining. Ok, I select my lyrics form beggining to the and of lyrics and I paster it on the first step of my 11th songs. all lyrics is paste but are longer than the song duration. I thunk it was BPM on player by when I change it same result. On my project I have a lot of BPM varation because song has different BPM and because original audio and not fixed. BPM change a little bit during the song. How can I fix it ? Which is the best method to avoid a long time to paste sentence by sentence ? thanks

Do you plan plugin for live to be able to create lyrics synchronisation directly into Live ? It should be easier to syncronise lyrics to the song when a lot of song on same live set.

Please fill out these values to make it easier to troubleshoot:

  • OS and Version: windows 11 pro
  • Version of AbleSet: last
  • Version of Ableton Live: 12

Hey Pat, thanks for the detailed message!

The issue might be coming from a tempo mismatch between your song in Live and the tempo you used when exporting the .als file from the Lyric Track Generator.

Even though the lyrics are stored as MIDI clips and adapt to your project’s grid, the synchronization points (the start and end of each line) are based on the BPM that was active when you created them.
So, if the generator was set to a different tempo than the one in your Live set, the lyrics may not line up correctly once imported.

Please try exporting the .als file again, making sure that the tempo in the Lyric Track Generator matches exactly the BPM of your song in Live’s timeline before generating it.

Also, keep in mind that whenever you drag an .als project file into an existing Live set, Live always places the imported clips at the beginning of the timeline — that’s expected behavior in Ableton Live.

If the issue still persists, could you record a short screen capture of your workflow?
That’ll help us see exactly what’s happening and figure out if something else might be causing it.

Best,
Agus
