TouchOSC and Ableset Soundchecking!

Just started using TouchOSC and here’s what I thought could be useful during a soundcheck!

I found soundchecking with our playback rig a couple of clicks too many sometimes especially when pressured for time or just doing line checks.

So I decided to use TouchOSC to automate a lot of things I used to do down to 1 button for each track FoH wants to check.

Here I use TouchOSC to send multiple OSC commands to Ableset (in order):

  • Disable Section Count In Temporarily
  • Select song
  • Select Section
  • Loop Section
  • Play

Then using Touch Bridge to send MIDI to Ableton to (temporarily):

  • Solo the return tracks sending to FoH
  • Disable my Lightkey MIDI sends

I noticed Ableset got a little confused when sending multiple OSCs at the same time so there is a 100ms delay between each OSC send

Hey @CharlesM1725, that’s a great idea!

If you’d like to skip Touch Bridge and mute/unmute tracks directly via OSC, you could take a look at AbletonOSC. This plugin runs an OSC server on port 11000 and allows you to control almost every aspect of Live remotely
