Starting playback at a specific measure

During rehearsals, our director often asks to start at a specific measure to rehearse small sections at a time. This works fine when I’m next to the computer running Ableton, but more often than not, I’m away from the computer during these moments.

In the past, I used a +LYRICS track to jump to a specific measure, but recently we’ve switched to using the new method for implementing measure tracks, which I prefer. However, I’m now missing the ability to quickly jump to a specific measure remotely.

Is there a way to jump to a specific measure in the song—similar to how we can select sections in the middle of a song—while being away from the computer? This would greatly improve the efficiency of our rehearsals.

Thank you!

Hey @iamderkis,

I’m sorry for the late reply to this request!

That’s a great idea, and shouldn’t be too hard to implement. I’ll check if I can add this in a future version of AbleSet.

With current feature set you can put “Measures +LYRICS” track with measure clips. Clicking lyrics in interface while playback is stopped puts playhead at that lyric clip start. It will make you to do some scrolling for big pieces, but so far it’s the way to make it work.

Yeah that’s what I used to do. I just really like the look of the new “built in” measure feature with the beat counts and all.
