Song Titles Won't Load in Oaktone Floor Vista

Hi all,

Running into a “buttons work, screen doesn’t” issue with my Floor Vista through a PlayAUDIO1U, and I’ve traced it down to a naming problem rather than a wiring/mapping issue.

Setup:

  • Oaktone Oakboard Floor Vista → PlayAUDIO1U USB Host port 1

  • PlayAUDIO1U → computer via USB-C DAW port

  • AbleSet version: [fill in]

  • OS: [Mac model / macOS version]

Symptom:
Transport controls (play/prev/next/stop) work fine since I manually MIDI-mapped them. But the setlist/song titles never populate on the Floor Vista’s OLED screen.

What I’ve found:
In AbleSet’s MIDI mapping settings, the device shows up as PlayAUDIO1U 7F7 HST 1 rather than an “Oakboard…” name. Since I understand AbleSet only auto-triggers the setlist screen-push for devices whose name starts with “Oakboard,” this passthrough naming seems to be why the screen never updates, even though the same physical controller works with full screen support when plugged directly into the computer.

I tried renaming the HST port in Auracle X to “Oakboard Floor Vista,” including a full power-cycle of the PlayAUDIO1U and deleting/recreating the MIDI Studio device entry on macOS — but the name still reports as PlayAUDIO1U 7F7 HST 1at the OS level, so the rename doesn’t appear to reach the USB descriptor for passthrough ports.

Questions:

  1. Is there a way for AbleSet to recognize the Floor Vista’s screen features on a port name that doesn’t start with “Oakboard” — e.g., detecting the device some other way when it’s behind a passthrough interface?

  2. Has anyone gotten Floor Vista screen support working through a PlayAUDIO1U (or similar hub/interface) specifically, and if so, how?

Hey @strive, welcome to the forum!

AbleSet only recognizes MIDI outputs with “Oakboard” in their name as Oakboard controllers, but you should be able to rename the ports from your PlayAUDIO using Auracle.

Could you try following the guide in the docs to ensure that the port name matches “Oakboard” and check if that works?

The order of disconnecting the interface, deleting it from Audio MIDI Setup, and then reconnecting it is important for macOS to recognize the renamed MIDI port.

I’m personally using an Oakboard Floor Vista with a mioXM at the moment, but I’ve also used a PlayAUDIO1U with the same configuration.
