Set list edit SUGGESTIONS / sync feature NOT WORKING

Allow us to move entire groups of songs in the song list editor. I love the app/software but a lot of times things change on the spot right before the show. I need the flexibility to be able to move things around quickly. One at a time is killing me lol. Much love :blue_heart::blue_heart:.

Side note : I’m using an M4 and M5 for redundancy on abelnet. At first the computers wouldn’t communicate, then I found this forum and followed all instructions (as far as downloading a specific abelset. Got them connected and green in the network tab and abelnet as well. Only problem I’m having now is if I need to reboot one computer mid show the sync feature (which is amazing) in the host tab is not working.

Hey @Rod_Jacobs, welcome to the forum!

Moving multiple songs at once is not possible at the moment. Songs can only be moved one at a time in the Setlist Editor. I’ll pass your request along, it’s good feedback to have!

In the meantime, one thing that might help for last-minute setlist reshuffling: you can copy your setlist as plain text (⌘C in Edit Mode), rearrange the song names in any notes app, paste it back into AbleSet, and it’ll match them up intelligently. Could be useful in the moments before the show.

Regarding Sync Playback Now: the button only works when Live is stopped on the rebooted machine. If Live is already playing on it, the button shows ā€œLive is Playingā€ and stays disabled.

So the flow after reboot would be:

  1. Let the rebooted machine finish loading (AbleSet reconnects automatically)
  2. Make sure Live is stopped on that machine
  3. On that machine, go to Settings → Redundancy & AbleNet and click Sync Playback Now — it’ll snap the playhead to match the other computer and start playback.

You can also see this in action in the official tutorial: https://youtu.be/sOLLe2rZhwY?t=490

If you’re following those steps and it’s still not working, could you try to reproduce it and send a log package? You can create one by opening AbleSet’s icon tray, clicking the gear icon, and selecting ā€œCreate Log Packageā€. Please include your .als files as well (no audio needed). Upload everything here.

I’m looking forward to your reply!

I’ll upload my Log package, because I’m following those instructions. What does work works well untill I went to the show and ableset skipped to a random song in the set. Now I want to update but I think the update doesn’t work with the M4 and M5. I love you guys software just scared it’s going to skip on me again

Hey @Rod_Jacobs,

Feel free to send in the log package whenever you’re ready, that’ll help us figure out what happened during the skip. If you’re able to reproduce it, a short screen recording would help a lot too.

About updating, there’s no compatibility issue between AbleSet and M4/M5 Macs. The important thing with AbleNet is that both computers run the exact same Ableton Project.

I’m looking forward to your reply!

Thanks for the reply.

Abelnet wasn’t seeing my M4 or M5 at first. Then I searched this forum found some other people had the same problem and downloaded a version that the program developed suggested, plus follow a host of steps like downloading the software with the Firewall on then turning it off etc, I digress. I’ll update abelset on both my computer’s then get back to you with an update on functionalitie.

As far as the skip, I have been putting myself in the same situation repeatedly to see if abelset behaves the same as it did in the Colosseum that day. (Side note I have my ip address typed in abelnet settings and they are only communicating with each other through a switch that I set up) {WiFi off} Abelset only functions perfectly doing exactly what it’s designed to do so I’m at a lost for words.
