Sections/Setlist View + Mixer in Performance View

First of all I just wanna say @leolabs your product is amazing & is simply a game changer when it comes to running my shows for artists. I’ve been using it since the beginning of this summer on various shows & festivals and it really is the best, simply. Big thanks and please continue the great work.

To the topic at hand! On ableset 2, I’ve been running shows in Setlist View, mainly because I know that if the artist goes off track or if something happens and the song moves in a different direction, I can open the song, click on the section that I need and I can fly it in on the 1. I would love if this section view could be implemented in performance view alongside another feature, the mixer!

I just installed the latest beta which is great with the mixer feature especially, so I think it would be great if there was a way to have the setlist view or maybe even just the sections on one side and the mixer on the other, in one window, in performance view.

If there’s any way this could happen, that would be amazing!

UPDATE: I’ve just seen the setlist feature in performance mode, my bad!

Still would love to see an option to have the mixer view implemented somehow though.

Hey @Eclectic_Prodz, super cool to hear AbleSet is working well for your shows :raised_hands:

If you’d like to click directly on sections in Performance View, you can enable that by adjusting how your sections are marked in Live.

You can do this in two ways:

1) Using Locators
Just prepend >> to the locator name, e.g.:

>> Verse
>> Chorus
>> Bridge

AbleSet will display those as selectable sections in Performance View.

2) Using MIDI Clips to define sections
If you use MIDI clips to mark your song structure instead:

• Add >> at the start of the MIDI clip name
• And make sure there’s a Locator at the beginning of that clip

For example:

Locator: could be auto-placed with any given number, e.g. “1.1.1” or “Verse”
MIDI Clip Name: “>> Verse”

This tells AbleSet: “This clip marks a jumpable section in the song.”

Once those are in place, you’ll be able to open the song in Performance View and click any section to cue it, just like you’re used to in Setlist View.

You can also read more about AbleSet’s Cue Notation here.

Since you’re also interested in controlling the mix during the show:

In the AbleSet 3 beta, you can show Track Groups in Performance View by opening the gear icon menu in the top right and enabling them there, and you can also control them from any MIDI controller using OSC commands like:

/mixer/[group name]/mute
/mixer/[group name]/solo
/mixer/[group name]/fadeOut [duration]
/mixer/[group name]/fadeIn [duration]
/mixer/[group name]/volume [0–1]

So combining the >> section markers + Track Groups in Performance View + these OSC controls can get very close to the workflow you’re describing :level_slider:

Would that work for your use case?
Looking forward to your reply!
