Predetermined amount of times to loop a section

Hello! Just getting started with AbleSet and love the abilities so far. I’ve searched documentation and forums for an answer but can’t seem to find one, so here I go:

Is there a way within the set list to specify a certain amount of times to loop a section before moving to the next section? We run audio, DMX, video, click, and guide tracks for each song, and having to split those tracks up in arrangement view for each song/show is tedious. Being able to simply add loop markers for our loop section and then specify the amount of times to loop that section within the AbleSet set list would be FAR easier. For example, with a song that has Intro, Loop, and Outro sections, the set list could be:

Intro
Loop
Loop
Loop
Outro

Maybe I am simply thinking about this the wrong way (I am a newbie…), so I am open to suggestions on how to make this happen.

Thanks!
Trevor

Hey @CavemanBeta, welcome to the forum!

Unfortunately, there’s currently no way of defining how many times a loop should be repeated before being turned off automatically, but that’s a cool idea!

I’ve moved your post into the Feature Request category and added it to my todo list

Hey @CavemanBeta,

I just released a new beta that supports pre-defined loops. Starting with this beta, you can now define the number of loops in the loop flag.

For example, +LOOPFULL:4, makes AbleSet automatically disable the loop bracket after the third loop so that the section plays a total of four times.

This also affects the calculated song duration.

You can download the beta here to give it a try: AbleSet 3.0.0-beta.16

Let me know what you think, I look forward to your reply!

Thank you so much! This is a game changer for me. Really appreciate the quick work on it.

Everything works as described! The only snag I hit was after installation of the beta. I uninstalled the old version, then installed the beta and tried the new feature out, but it didn’t work. After making sure I was running the correct version and trying a couple of different things, I rebooted my computer. After the reboot, it all worked great. For what it’s worth, I am running Ableton 12 Suite on a Windows 11 computer. Just a heads up if anyone else reports that issue. You can give them the tried and true “Did you restart your computer?” line :joy:
