Strange issue that when I play the track in Ableton there is no audio output, in the mixer the meters have no movement. It has happened 2 times on 2 different songs on 2 different days.
It doesn’t feel like it should be from ableset - but I never had this problem before.
Thank you
Running Ableton 12.2 and the latest version of ableset. Mac M1.
1. Toggle Ableton’s audio engine
Open Preferences (Cmd+,), go to the Audio tab, and click the power button to turn the audio engine off and back on. This often fixes sudden silence without needing a full restart.
2. Check your audio interface selection
While you’re in Preferences → Audio, confirm that the correct audio interface is still selected as the Input and Output device. macOS can sometimes switch to the built-in audio automatically when an interface is disconnected or goes to sleep, which leaves Ableton with no valid output.
3. Sample rate
If the interface’s sample rate changed (or was reset), Ableton may silently stop outputting. Make sure the sample rate in Preferences → Audio matches what your interface is set to.
Out of curiosity, what audio interface are you using? And did either of these incidents happen after waking from sleep or switching apps?
The problem happened mid show so the laptop was always awake. Restarting the track from ableset resolved the issue without needing to change any settings.
I am running qlab on the same machine outputting to the same sound card but there hasn’t been an issue with this in rehearsals except for those 2 times. However in hindsight that probably isn’t a good idea.
Thank you for your advice I realise this probably isn’t a ableset issue.
