Describe your issue here:
Hi, the problem is in the description. Have been playing with Ableset and it’s very powerful, I just bought myself a licence. I have noted that when using the tool in settings “Place Locators on Section Clips” only seems to work on my instance if I name my sections track “SECTIONS”
If I use my existing template, when I have the track called “LOCATORS” modifying it by adding the +SECTIONS flag (i.e LOCATORS +SECTIONS), the sections are recognized by Ableset in the Setlist view. But, the automated tool to “Place Locators on Section Clips” does not work if the track is labelled with the flag. If I enabled logging streaming, I see an error coming up saying there is no sections track. The dialog of the error code does pickup that there is a track called LOCATORS +SECTIONS though.
Please fill out these values to make it easier to troubleshoot:
- OS and Version: macOS Tahoe 26.4.1
- Version of AbleSet: e.g. 3.0.11
- Version of Ableton Live: e.g. 12.3.7 Suite
Hey @jameskoziol, welcome to the forum!
Thanks for reporting this, it shouldn’t be happening.
Could you please create a Log Package? You can do that by opening AbleSet’s icon tray, clicking the gear icon, and selecting “Create Log Package”. Please make sure to include your project files as well (just the .als files, no audio needed). You can upload them here.
I’m looking forward to your reply!
Log package uploaded! I replicated steps from scratch - loaded a template, imported a song with a sections track. I initially had the track named “LOCATORS +SECTIONS” Tried running the tool to place locators on section clips and it failed. I then renamed the track to just “SECTIONS” and it worked.
It’s easy enough to rename the track to add the locators then rename it back as it’s only the locator add tool doing this. I’m looking to implement Ableset in the workflow of our church group, where I’m the main Ableton/tech guy and other MD’s have only a passing knowledge of Ableton, so minimizing change where possible is the goal.
Hey @jameskoziol, thank you for reporting this issue!
I managed to reproduce it on my end and found a fix which I’ll publish with the next version of AbleSet. Let me know if you have any further questions in the meantime

Hey @jameskoziol,
A fix for this has been pushed in AbleSet 3.1 Beta 10.
Could you give it a try and let me know if it works for you?
I’m looking forward to your reply!
Hi, I can confirm that latest beta fixes the problem I was having. Placing locators now works if “Sections” is marked as a flag. I’ve put the beta on a non-production machine. Also looking forward to testing the cues midi instrument!
