Override "Always Stop At End Of Song" for Direct Segue

Describe your issue here:

Hi. Recently bought Ableset and really enjoying it so far!!

I’m wondering if there’s a way to override the “always stop at end of song” preference for specific songs, in order to create a “direct segue” when needed? Most songs in the set require a stop an re-cue, but there are sone direct segues where I would like the next song to play immediately after the last song finishes, without having 2 cues in the same song. If possible, this would be super useful in a musical theatre setting!

Please fill out these values to make it easier to troubleshoot:

  • OS and Version: (e.g. macOS Ventura 13.3)
  • Version of AbleSet: (e.g. 2.2.3)
  • Version of Ableton Live: (e.g. 11.3.3)

Hey @jamesayaw, welcome to the forum!

This is totally doable, and the setup is actually quite flexible.

Step 1: Disable “Always Stop at the End of Songs”

Go to Settings → Playback and turn off Always Stop at the End of Songs. With this off, songs will flow directly into the next one by default (as long as you’re using SONG END locators in Ableton).

Step 2: Enable “Stop After Song” per song in the Setlist Editor

For any song that does need a stop and re-cue, you can enable it individually:

  1. Enter Setlist Edit Mode by clicking the :pencil: button at the bottom-right of the Setlist View.
  2. Click the ⋮ (three dots) next to the song you want to stop after.
  3. Toggle on Stop After Song.
  4. In the Behavior dropdown, choose whether AbleSet should jump to the next song or stay at the stop point after stopping.

Songs with “Stop After Song” enabled will show a thick black line below them in the Setlist View, so you can see at a glance which songs stop and which segue.

For songs where Stop After Song is off, you can also set a short delay (in seconds) before the next song starts, useful if you need a brief pause without a full stop.

You can also see this in action in the official tutorial.

Would that work for your use case?

Fantastic, thank you!!
