Offset the timing of an entire device to compensate for frame delay

Our stage display has quite a few frames of delay. It’s not a problem with lyrics or anything but where it becomes more noticeable is the measures track, progress bars, visual metronome (if used), etc.

Is it possible to offset the timing of the display on one device? Similar to putting [-200ms] on a track? So that I could make that one device offset without affecting any of the other devices?

  • Version of Ableton Live: (e.g. 11.3.3)

Hey @iamderkis,

Unfortunately, this isn’t currently possible, but that’s an interesting scenario that I could imagine others will run into as well. I’ll see what I can do about this

hi there,

I had the same problem. I couldn’t follow the lyrics in time using my tablet connected wirelessly to the router because of its delay… I had to move the entire lyric track to compensate…
Something like what @iamderkis suggests would be great, we’d be grateful again, Leo.

You can offset lyric tracks currently! You can use the tag [-2n] and that would be two beats before, or you could use [1000ms] and that would make it 1 second before. That way you can leave your lyric track in its “correct” position but still have them all pop up early. That wouldn’t necessarily fix the sections or measures or whatever on a canvas but if you are only using the lyric track this would work for you.
