Anticipating Floor Vista compatibility, I just purchased one (used). I understand I may still have to load a Beta version, but other than that, how can I best get installation/setup instructions? Will Doggett has still not done a video, as far as I know.
Hey @Dmcdowell48,
AbleSet 2.7.0 supports the Oakboard Floor Vista. When you plug it in for the first time, AbleSet will automatically detect it and set up MIDI mapping so you can start using it right away.
Here’s a demo of how this looks: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_OV6RF5UPT4
I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any further questions!
I’ve got an oak board floor vista that I have been using with Taz for quite some time now, and I’m looking to migrate to Ableset. While using Taz, I can control Ableton and display the setlist on the screen while connected directly to the computer and through a mioxm → PA1U via RTP midi.
Currently while using ableset, I can get the display to populate with the setlist only when plugging directly into the computer.
When plugging into the host port of PA1U, the vista screen will not populate and has a message of “waiting for link” at the bottom.
I can control ableset and remap midi controls as expected. But the screen will not populate unless connected directly to computer.
Are there some extra steps or settings that need to be taken?
Thank you in advance.
Beau
I was able to solve the issue. In order to rename the midi ports in ableton, you must delete the device from audio midi setup and then re plug in the unit after renaming the ports.
I’m glad to hear you got this working!
AbleSet recognizes all MIDI ports that include “Oakboard” as potential Floor Vista controllers, so renaming the ports was the right step
I’ll make sure to add this to the docs!
I’m having the exact same issue (except i cant get the vista screen to populate at all) but i havent been able to figure it out yet. Do i need to delete the Vista from Audio MIDI Setup? or delete the PA1U? I deleted the Vista and plugged it back in after renaming the host port in Auracle but it’s still saying “waiting for link” at the bottom. Any help?<3
Hey @itsjust_TFR,
You might have to take a few steps for this to work. First, make sure the Oakboard Floor Vista is permanently mapped to one of the host ports in the “USB Host Reservation” settings:
I’ve also renamed the port to “Oakboard FV” for easier recognition here, though that’s optional.
Then, in the “MIDI Routing” settings, make sure that the name of the port of your controller includes “Oakboard” both for Jack A and Jack B. In my case, that’s HST1, and I chose “Oakboard FV” here as well for consistency:
If macOS doesn’t recognize the name change right away, you might have to unplug the PA1U, delete it in Audio MIDI Settings, and then plug it back in.
AbleSet should now automatically connect to the controller and populate its display with your setlist.
I hope this helps!
I still cant seem to get it to work:/ do i need to unplug power to the PA1U? or just unplug the Vista? heres some screenshots of my Auracle settings on both scenes A & B…
Hey @itsjust_TFR,
I’d try unplugging the PA1U from your computer. You can then delete its MIDI device in Audio MIDI Settings and plug it back in, that should do the trick.
Let me know if this works for you
Still cant get it:( Im on Sonoma 14.5… Do i need to route the midi track to the floor vista in the “Sections” track?
When i plug the Vista into my computer, the device is recognized in Audio MIDI Setup… but when i plug it into the USB Host on the PA1U, the vista wont show that its recognized. Im really sorry for my confusion lol
Could you send me a picture of what the MIDI Studio window of your Audio MIDI Setup looks like? You should see a PlayAUDIO1U device, and the first input/output should be named “Oakboard FV”.
This is when the FVis plugged into the USB host port of the PA1U
and this one is when its plugged into my computer (its a USB hub thats plugged into my computer)
Ah, I think I see the issue! Could you try renaming your ports from “Oaktone FV” to “Oakboard FV”? That should make AbleSet recognize the controller.
OMG i cant believe i did that lol. But its still not showing up on the FV:( I really appreciate your quick responses man, seriously. Is it a setting in Auracle that i need to fix? and do i need to have Taz Pro on the Sections track? Im using Ableset 2 in a redundant setup
Could you try unplugging the PA1U, deleting the MIDI device, and then plugging it back into your computer? Your Mac might not have recognized the name change yet.
I hope this works
