Multifile project switch

Hello, i just tried out to use the multifile project feature in Ableset. Unfortunately i always have a delay of may be 10-15 sek between the different song projects.
I don’t know if i need a special high running system that allows immediately switching like in your YT or if i can do anything to make it more usable? Actually …with a new song it has to start Ableton again, than Ableset is rebuilding connection …sometimes it also stucks in the switching process.

Thank your for your attention and help.

actually we have the same situation on both:
a surface i5 7ma gen and an asus i7 7ma gen…
I havent tried on the AmD R7 but those two are the ones we use for live performance and have the same problem.

Maybe is it a settings optimization problem?

Hey @MiCor77 and @Gerson_Benjamin_Sobe

Just to clarify: if you’re using multifile projects in AbleSet, it’s totally normal to have a delay of around 10–15 seconds (sometimes less, depending on your computer) when switching between songs. Each song is a separate Ableton project, so Ableton has to close the current one, load the next one, and then AbleSet reconnects. That process always takes a bit of time—it’s impossible to have zero delay.

If you’re looking for gapless transitions, you’ll need to put all your songs into a single Ableton project. Or at least between the songs where you need it to be seamless. That way, everything’s already loaded and AbleSet can switch between them instantly.

Hope that helps!

Hey , yeah thank you for clarifIng.That was my question.I just saw the video from Leo on YT and there it was told that it’s going to switch immediately. Like when it was just switched to another window. But now i know better …thank you. I think i have to stay with the “normal” project file…

I also like to ask if you guys have an idea of short uncertain breaks during the playback, when Ableset seems to lose the connectivity and has to reconnect again…this happens just from time to time. Our computer is a Windows 11 with 8gb Ram… but we only run Ableton and Ableset on that, nothing more.Any ideas how to avoid this?

Thank you

To add to this, unfortunately Live on Windows takes a lot longer to load project files compared to Live on macOS.

As AbleSet only instructs Live to load the project file for a given song when you jump to it, there’s nothing I can do to improve the performance on Windows, I’m afraid. You might be better off with one large project file in that case, as @agustinvolpe suggested.

Can confirm as I am testing both methods now and multi-file is just as fast as all-in-one for me.
