I started using Multi-file mode for a new projet where the band has a lot of songs and I really enjoy the ability to deal with individual sessions for song arrangements.
Here is my problem. We use different audio tracks that are usually muted unless a problem occurs with a live instrument Say a guitar player breaks a string). I use your G+ syntax to surface these audio tracks in the mixer view so I can acces the mute button rapidly and it works great. The problem I face is the following: Since every song has its session file, If I unmute a track in the mixer and skip to another song, the track tha was previouslu unmuted needs to be unmuted again in EVERY song to stay active. I know it is probably a limitation of Ableton, but is there a way to make the mute status of groups the same rapidly in a multi-file set? Thanks for your help!
Hey @jayvallee5, welcome to the forum and please excuse my late reply!
This is something I hadn’t thought about yet, but it should be possible to implement an option to save and restore the current levels and solo/mute state of groups when loading a new file in a multi-file project.
I’ve added this to my todo list and will try to work on it soon. Please feel free to let me know if you have any further questions or suggestions in the meantime
Hi @leolabs ! Is there any update on this? I agree that this is an important feature for utilising multi-file mode as it allows to use the same project file for different live situation. For example, I we play with a drummer but usually don’t, it would require to open the project file of every song again and mute the tracks with the drum stem whereas with this feature, I would only need to mute it in the Ableset mixer, which would be significantly easier to implement.
I just released a new beta which added two new options to synchronize the mute/solo state and also the volumes of groups between songs in a multi-file project.
Let me know if this works well for you. I’m looking forward to your feedback!
