MIDI signal from Roland RD-88 is sending 2 signals and only sometimes triggering GO button

Describe your issue here:

Current set up is Roland RD-88 with Boss FS-5U pedal to act as my go button. pedal is sending FC1 or FC2 (i believe CC66 or CC67). The first issue is that no matter if the pedal is on continuous mode or switch mode, Ableset only sometimes seem to pick it up/ trigger. i have installed a midi signal viewer and can confirm that the machine is receiving all MIDI signals and ableset is not firing when all MIDI signals are recieved. 2nd issue is that when F#3 is played and CC66 is mapped as go button (and G3 when CC67 is mapped), this also triggers the go button. Confused as to why this happens with ableset since i have been using mainstage and DAW’s for years with no MIDI signals issues through my RD88. I have tried other pedals and other midi monitors but am unsure of a solution. Thanks!

Please excuse my late reply, and thanks for the detailed write-up.

To understand what’s going on, could you please create a Log Package?
You can create a log package by opening AbleSet’s icon tray, clicking the gear icon, and then selecting “Create Log Package”.
Please make sure to include your project files as well (just the .als files, no audio needed).
To send the files, you can upload them to AbleSet’s support inbox.

A few things that would also help:

  1. Check for duplicate mappings in Ableton Live. Just to rule it out: do you happen to have any of these same commands (CC66/CC67, or F#3/G3) mapped directly inside Ableton Live as well? If both Live and AbleSet are reacting to the same incoming MIDI, that can cause some odd cross-triggering, so it’s worth double-checking there are no leftover mappings on Live’s side.

  2. Copy & paste your MIDI monitor log. If you can grab what your MIDI monitor shows when you trigger the pedal (and when you play F#3 / G3), pasting that here would be super useful, we can see exactly what’s coming in.

  3. A short screen recording of the issue would be ideal too, just so we can see the intermittent triggering and the note-vs-CC behavior in action.
