Hi Leo! I was wondering if the following is possible. I would love to add velocity ranges to the midi mapping within Ableset. I plan on upgrading the current setup for the back I’m backlining for and I dont really want to change the setup the drummer uses now. He triggers with a Yamaha DTX that sends out notes. Tested it with Ableset and it works great, but we’ve encountered situations live where the subs would trigger the pads, so in the old/current setup, the triggers only happen on velocity above 63. Would be amazing if that was natively possible in Ableset.
Thanks for all the work you’ve done so far. Really excited about using Ableset. Cheers!
There are some cool features in the works in AbleSet 3 that will come in handy for this.
In the meantime, you can use something like Bome MIDI Translator Pro to replicate this behavior. With it, you can filter incoming notes by velocity and only let AbleSet receive the ones above the threshold you want, or even translate them to other notes mapped to AbleSet.
That should match the setup you’re currently using.
Starting with AbleSet 3, you’ll be able to assign custom scripts to mapped MIDI triggers which allows you to filter by velocity. For example, if you’d like to only trigger the play/pause action with a velocity above 63, you could do it like this:
