Describe your issue here:
I am working with couple midi mapping script, and planning to use then for my projects… would like to know if is there an isue cause i have to set then up again for each new project… if this is the way it works, how can i copy paste this configuration so i dont have to remap each time i create a new project
Hey Gerson!
Your MIDI mappings should persist — you shouldn’t have to set them up again every time you create a new Ableton project.
A quick thing to check first: in Settings → MIDI Mappings, make sure the script mapping isn’t just collapsed/minimized. Sometimes it looks like the mappings “disappeared” when they’re simply folded.
You can check that by clicking on the formatted text icon highlighted in the screenshot below:
If you’re still not seeing them (or they’re genuinely not being saved), please send us a Log Package:
-
Click on AbleSet’s tray icon
-
Go to Gear icon → Create Log Package
-
Please make sure to include your project files (no audio needed, just the .als file/s)
Once it finishes, please upload it here.
I’m looking forward to your reply!

Hello,
Firstly, want to say thank you for the amazing product. I love using Ableset.
Are you saying that Midi mapping should be the same between Live Sets? Cause if so, then my Midi Mappings are not the same between Ableton Live Sets. I can’t upload since I am still a new user, but I did a screen record: https://youtu.be/dr_SZppebDI

Hey David, welcome to the forum!
Thanks for the kind words, glad you’re enjoying AbleSet!
MIDI mappings are stored per project — each Ableton Live project has its own AbleSet folder with its own settings, including MIDI mappings. That’s why you’re seeing different mappings across your Live Sets.
There are two good approaches to keep your mappings consistent across projects:
∙ You could set up your MIDI mappings once in a “template” project and use that as a starting point for all new projects. Since the AbleSet folder is inside the project directory, your mappings will already be there from the start.
∙ Or you could copy the mappings file manually. Your MIDI mappings are saved in a file called midi-mappings.json, located inside your project folder at:
[Your Project Folder]/AbleSet/Settings/midi-mappings.json
Just copy this file from a project where your mappings are already set up and paste it into the AbleSet/Settings/ folder of any other project. Make sure to restart AbleSet after copying so it picks up the changes.
To find this folder quickly, click the AbleSet icon tray, then the gear icon, and select “Open AbleSet Folder” — from there, navigate into the Settings folder.
Hope that helps!
