LTC Display not reading sample rate of 96khz

Hi, I bought the LTC Display for Ableton, however it is unable to read an LTC file which has a sample rate of 96khz… Any particular reason why that is so? Unfortunately, Avid mixer consoles like S6L only translate LTC using this particular sample rate. Any help is highly appreciated!

My device details:

  • OS and Version: (MacOs, Tahoe 26.2)
  • Version of AbleSet: (2.7.4)
  • Version of Ableton Live: (12.3.2)

Hey @rishabhj9,

Thank you for reporting this! I’ve never had to deal with 96kHz LTC signals before so I’m not sure what could be causing this.

Could you send me a short sample of the signal so I can try to reproduce the issue on my end and look for a solution? You can upload it to my support inbox.

I’m looking forward to your reply!

Hello,

Thanks for your reply, below mentioned is the link for the LTC sample file, because such big attachments are not allowed here.

Awaiting reply. Thanks!

Hey @rishabhj9,

Thank you for the audio file. I’ve checked its content and it seems that the timecode signal is too slow to be correctly interpreted, with each second of timecode taking ~1.2 seconds in the audio clip. Speeding the file up to around 1.2x of its original tempo makes the LTC Display work as expected.

You might also need to increase the gain of the LTC signal quite a bit to make the LTC Display detect the timecode as it filters out anything that’s too quiet. I’ve added a Utility effect before the LTC Display with a gain of 10 dB to make it work.

Btw, it seems like the timecode stored in this file is actually 24fps instead of 30, which is also a factor of 1.25. Not sure if that’s a helpful hint about why the signal is too slow.

Let me know if this helps. I’m looking forward to your reply!
