IP address available to view in Canvas

At a gig when many devices are running AbleSet, the most common query I get from band members is “what’s the IP address?”. We connect to a variety of different systems/networks so it changes most gigs.

Current ways to answer that question:

  1. Click the AbleSet icon in the top menu bar on Mac. This is what I do instinctively. Unfortunately this throws me back to the desktop and I’ve got to swipe back to AbleSet each time.
  2. Go to Settings and scroll down to the bottom. Keeps me within AbleSet but then I’ve got to navigate back.

Much as I’d love for the machine’s IP address to be visible at all times across Setlist/Performance etc, that’s probably rather impractical and a niche request. I’m loving the new Canvas view though so I was wondering if we could maybe have an accessible variable like Set Length, Song Name etc, but for IP address? Hostname too perhaps :slight_smile:

That would mean that the IP address is always visible to users once it’s been set up, and there’s no going back and forth between views in order to get everyone seeing their lyrics and setlists.

Generally, I’d recommend using the .local hostname of your computer to connect to AbleSet as that doesn’t change between different network setups :slight_smile:
