«Include Section Descriptions» not working

I may have noticed a bug in the Cues-feature: Even though the «Include Section Descriptions» is toggled on, it is only announced when Playback is off - In earlier versions, it was included during Playback. The Section Descriptins are very handy for bands that need lots of cues.

If it is not a bug - is it possible add that as a feature to include descriptions during Playback?

Thanks for reporting this! Those are actually two separate features:

• Auto-Speak Section Titles / Include Section Descriptions only applies to the announcement that happens when you jump to a section while playback is stopped. That’s the one that includes the description.
• Count-In Sections During Playback is what you hear while Live is running, and it speaks the section name along with the count (e.g. “Chorus, 2, 3, 4”). The description isn’t part of that phrase. It’s not that it gets cut off for lack of time, it’s simply not included there.

So with playback running, only the section name gets announced. You can see the settings explained here.

In the meantime, as a workaround, you could put the cue directly in the section name instead of the description, e.g. Chorus Build. To avoid the TTS sounding awkward, you can record a mono WAV named after the exact phrase (Chorus Build.wav) and drop it into a Custom folder inside your project’s Cues folder. AbleSet will use your recording instead of the generated one.

If you need more room for a longer name, [c:2] gives you a 2-bar count-in, and [c:2.3] for e.g. lets you choose which beat the name lands on.

As for having the description itself spoken during the playback count-in, I’ll pass it along.

You mentioned it worked during playback in earlier versions. Do you remember roughly which version that was?

I have my settings set up like this for a worship-setting, where I have “include Beat Numbers” off. I manually put in Count-Ins [c:b] for the Intro for example, and have the sections announce the sections titles, but It would be awesome to have the descriptions during playback as well.

I roughly remember that it was 3.1.0 or 3.1.2. It may have been a bug, because at that stage the Cues-section wasn’t as stable as it is now
