Hardware for Lyrics Teleprompter

Which hardware do you use for showing lyrics on a display for musicians?

I tried to get a Raspberry Pi 4 working. But the scrolling of the lyrics is not fluent like on the web browser in my Mac.
Paspberry is connected by Lan.

That’s odd. I feel like a pi4 should be able to handle it. iPads are a great option.

I’m at a church so we are using Stage Display from Pro Presenter and getting the video feed over NDI.

Using a Raspberry Pi should work, unfortunately I don’t have one to test this with at this time. Maybe you can try different Linux distros or browsers to check which one works best.

Alternatively, as @iamderkis pointed out, iPads are a great choice for lyrics, or you could look for a smart tv with a built-in web browser if you don’t mind replacing your screen.

I hope this helps, let me know if you have any further questions!

One of my bands has been using an actual computer monitor resting at a 45 degree angle on a wooden frame that’s been cut and painted to look like a floor wedge. Then we’ve run a long HDMI cable to an old laptop connected to a wifi network and AbleNet.

Short Feedback:

I used now a RaspberryPi 4B with 8GB RAM

And followed this instruction:

As URL I used the Hostname, so I can change MacBooks without touching the Pi.

@leolabs the only thing that doesn‘t work is that the upper menu does not dissappear automaticly if no mouse is connected to the Pi.

Perhaps it could be possible in an update, that menubar automatically hide after 20 seconds?

Hey @Michael_Sommerer, thank you for sharing this article!

That should be easy to implement, I’ve added it to my todo list
