Generic OSC device not receiving messages (only AbleSet Companion connection)

Short version is how can I get Ablenet status info to companion? I’m using Ableset’s Companion connection to turn it on/off but want feedback to know the state. I think I’m close, but missing something with Generic OSC subscribing to Ableset and more specifically, how to prompt Ableset to send OSC info to Generic OSC

Long version:

I’m trying to get AbleNet connection status from AbleSet via OSC so I can show it as button feedback in Bitfocus Companion.

I’m using Companion Generic OSC, and I created a GenericOSC device in AbleSet.

AbleSet is receiving OSC from Companion, so that side of the connection is working.

However, I cannot get AbleSet to send any OSC messages to the GenericOSC device.

The only OSC messages I see in the AbleSet logs are going to the AbleSet Companion connection. For example:

clients: 10.40.130.245:50510
/global/isPaused
/global/isPlaying

I expected that when AbleSet sends OSC, I would see the IP and port of the GenericOSC device appear in the AbleSet logs as a client (similar to the Companion connection), but I never see it listed.

So my question is:

  • Should standard AbleSet status messages be sent to normal OSC devices, or only to the AbleSet Companion integration?

  • If they can be sent to OSC devices, is there something else I need to configure for AbleSet to publish those messages?

My goal is simply to get AbleNet connection status via OSC so Companion can display whether AbleNet is connected.

I used ChatGPT to get my thoughts together - it’s close enough to start the conversation.

Please fill out these values to make it easier to troubleshoot:

  • OS and Version: macOS Tahoe 26.2
  • Version of AbleSet: 3.06
  • Version of Ableton Live: 12.3.6

Is it possible for Companion to show if redundant Ablenet is On/Off?

Hey @chawkins117, please excuse my late reply on this one!

Currently, AbleSet’s Companion module doesn’t support checking whether AbleNet is active, but I just submitted a new version with support for this. It should be available in the upcoming days as soon as it’s accepted by the BitFocus Companion developer team
