Exporting options

Hi all!

I’m loving Ableset for all of its functionalities. I’m currently running into some issues with exporting audio with ableset functions. I’d love to have the ability to export the setlist as audio, especially for parts of the set where autoplay is enabled. This way, I can send clicks/cues/sequence to other band members for preparation with the transitions, so they’ll get the feeling of what the whole show will be like.

Also, currently the cues function (which I know is still in beta) doesn’t work when exporting audio. I’d love to have the option to print the cues track to audio and/or include it in my audio export.

Hey @Jeshja,

Thanks for the kind words and for sharing these ideas!

At the moment, audio export isn’t something AbleSet handles, so that’s fully in Ableton Live’s territory for the time being. AbleSet’s only audio-related process is playing back the Cues. Everything else — your click tracks, sequences, transitions — lives in your Live project, so any rendering would need to happen there.

As for songs with autoplay enabled and Cues track, you’d need to build your own custom render/bounce workflow directly in Live.
The most straightforward way is to do a real-time bounce in Live with the Cues track soloed (or blended however you’d like). That’ll give you an audio file with just the spoken cues, which you can then share or layer as needed.

That said, a way to solve this is being considered.

Hey @Jeshja,

AbleSet 3.1 beta 12 now supports offline bouncing of the Cues track, so you can export it blended however you like without having to do a real-time capture.

Give it a try and let me know how it goes!

That’s amazing! Thanks for listening to the feedback and implementing this! I’ve been able to make it work after a couple of tries. I must say, it didn’t work perfectly from the start. I selected an audio file to select the range of the export and the first few tries I couldn’t get the cues track to be implemented in the export. At some point, I found out that if I pressed play and pause, doesn’t seem to matter for how long, but just so that the transport bar moved, it was able to include the cues track in the export. It might have been a coincidence, but this is the only workaround I was able to use when exporting all (13) songs in the project I used

Hey @Jeshja, that makes sense. AbleSet generates and loads the count-ins for the current song based on the playhead’s position, so just selecting the clip would likely not trigger this loading of count-ins.

Just clicking somewhere within the song so the playhead moves there should also work. I’ll document how to bounce cues in place and will mention this workaround.
