EXBOX.MD header bar color issue & settings sync conflict with Resilio in redundant setup

Hi Leo,

I have two questions regarding AbleSet 3.0 Beta in a redundant setup, and I believe they might be related.

My setup:

  • 2x Mac Mini M4 (10C CPU, 10C GPU, 16GB, 512GB)
  • EXBOX.MD for audio redundancy (using LifeSign plugin)
  • Resilio Sync to keep the Ableton project folders identical on both machines
  • AbleNet for synchronization between the two computers

Issue 1: Settings sync with Resilio — machine-specific vs. project-level settings

Since AbleSet 3.0 now stores settings inside the Ableton project directory, Resilio automatically syncs everything — including the AbleSet settings folder — between both Macs.

In a redundant setup, each Mac needs machine-specific configurations that should NOT be synced (as far as i understand):

  • Computer A vs. B role
  • Drift Correction (typically only enabled on backup)
  • Custom AbleNet IPs
  • Possibly other per-machine settings

At the same time, there are project-level settings that SHOULD be synced:

  • Setlist configuration
  • Flags and track settings
  • MIDI mappings
  • Custom styles

How does AbleSet 3.0 separate these two types of settings? Is there a recommended way to handle this with Resilio Sync? I’d also like to do a clean settings reset to reconfigure with new IPs — what’s the safest approach without both machines overwriting each other?

Issue 2: Header bar background randomly green or red after restart

The background of the top header bar in AbleSet (the bar showing the project name, the EXBOX.MD connection indicator, and the Settings/Lyrics/Performance tabs) is sometimes green, sometimes red. It doesn’t flicker or switch during operation — the color seems to change depending on when I restart AbleSet.

My suspicion is that this might be related to Issue 1: Resilio could be syncing the computer role (A/B) between machines, so after a restart AbleSet picks up the other machine’s role and displays the wrong active/backup state.

Is this assumption correct, or is there another explanation for this behavior?

Thanks!
Damian

  • Hardware: 2x Mac Mini M4 (10C CPU, 10C GPU, 16GB, 512GB)
  • OS and Version: macOS Sequoia 15.7.3
  • Version of AbleSet: 3.0.0-beta.25
  • Version of Ableton Live: 12.3
  • Dante Controller: 4.17.0

Hey @Damian_Caluzi,

Yeah, that’s both probably caused by Resilio syncing settings from the AbleSet folder in your Ableton Live project folder. Could you try excluding the file AbleSet/Settings/settings.json from sync and check if that helps?

AbleSet will automatically sync all relevant settings across all computers that are connected via AbleNet.

I’m looking forward to your reply!
