Hi am trying to get the group fader to respond with my controler in the midi edit settings if i can see a example on how to input the coustom OSC would be find i try reading the doc but little confuse
Hey @Praisekid,
There are two ways to do this, depending on whether you’re mapping a button or an actual fader.
Custom OSC sends a fixed command every time the mapping is triggered, so it’s a good fit for buttons. For example, if your track in Live is named Drums +G:DRUMS, this command sets that group to 0 dB:
/mixer/drums/volume 0.85
The group name is written in lowercase in the command, and the volume is a number between 0 and 1, where 0.85 equals 0 dB and 1 is the maximum of +6 dB.
For a fader or knob that should follow your controller, you’d use Custom Script instead (available in AbleSet Pro), since a script can read the value your controller is sending:
- Go to Settings → MIDI Mapping, OSC & Scripting → Edit MIDI Mapping.
- Click “Add New Mapping” under your controller and move the fader so AbleSet captures its CC.
- Set the Trigger to “Any Value”. This one is important: if it stays on a fixed value, the script only runs when the fader hits that exact number.
- Set the action to “Custom Script”, open the code editor and paste this:
// Scale the incoming CC value (0 to 127) to the mixer range,
// with the top of the fader landing at 0 dB
const volume = (midi.value / 127) * 0.85;
sendOsc("/mixer/drums/volume", volume);
Just replace drums with your own group name. If you’d like the fader to reach +6 dB at the top, remove the * 0.85 part.
You can also see this in action in the official tutorials: Custom OSC in MIDI Mapping, Custom Script in MIDI Mapping and creating track groups.
Would that work for your use case?
Thanks very much it works an am truly greatfull for your always quick response ![]()
