Hi, new to Ableset - running version 3.1.8. I’ve created a custom cues folder in my project but none of those cues are being used. Instead, it’s using the generated cues. I’ve made sure that the file names match exactly with the setlist and even the generated cue file names. Any reason why this could be happening?
Please fill out these values to make it easier to troubleshoot:
There are a few things worth double checking here:
1. Folder location and name
The folder needs to be called Custom and sit inside the Cues folder of your project’s AbleSet folder, which AbleSet creates in your Live project directory:
Your Project/AbleSet/Cues/Custom
If you’d like to keep several custom voices, each folder name has to start with “Custom” (e.g. Custom Drums).
2. File format and names
The audio files need to be mono WAV files, so stereo files or other formats (MP3, AIFF) could be the reason they’re being skipped.
Each file should be named after the exact phrase that’s spoken, e.g. Chorus.wav or Verse 1.wav. If AbleSet says “Verse 1” and you only have Verse.wav, it’ll fall back to the generated voice, unless you enable Fall Back to Section Titles Without a Number in the Cues settings.
3. Cues settings
Open Settings → Cues and check whether a Custom Voices section shows up with your custom folder selected in the Primary Custom Voice dropdown.
If after double checking this it still doesn’t work , could you please create a Log Package?
You can create a log package by opening AbleSet’s icon tray, clicking the gear icon, and then selecting “Create Log Package”.
Please make sure to include your project files as well (just the .als files, no audio needed).
To send the files, you can upload them to AbleSet’s support inbox.
I was able to get it to work once I gave the custom folder a “voice”. But now, after testing it, there seems to be a bug where if I jump to a section, the ableset cue plugin immediately calls out the section that I am currently in. In other words, it works as needed, waits until the end of the section to call the section we are jumping to, but in the process of clicking a section, it calls out the current section I am in, which could be confusing. Other than that it is working fine. I just sent the log package. Thanks for the quick response!
Glad to hear the custom voice is working now, and thanks for sending the log package!
Could you check whether Auto-Speak Section Titles is enabled under Settings → Cues Settings?
That setting is meant to announce a section when you jump to it while playback is stopped, so it shouldn’t kick in during playback. Still, it’d be great if you could disable it and try again.
Also, could you confirm that this only happens while playback is running, and not when you click a section with Live stopped?
