Just wondering:
I created a new canvas to play around with some buttons. Worked great. Until i saved the Ableton project. When i hit save in Ableton the canvas is being reset for some reasons.
Could this be because my Ableton project is rather large? (~5GB).
-Edit- Just figured out: This happens while i’m currently in the “edit Canvas” - state. So, i guess this is to be expected. However, it resets the canvas to an older state somehow.
-Edit 2- Nevermind. This now also happened when i closed the canvas. It also duplicated the canvas. But both canvases are in an older state. Not the one from the time i edited the canvas
Thank you for reporting this! That shouldn’t happen. I’ve moved your post to a separate thread so it won’t get lost in the release notes.
Could you create a log package and send it to me so I can take a closer look at what might be causing this? You can create one by opening AbleSet’s status window, clicking the settings icon on the top right, and then selecting “Create Log Package”. You can upload it to my support inbox.
As a workaround, could you also try quitting AbleSet, removing the “Canvases” folder from the “AbleSet” folder in your Ableton Live project, and then restarting AbleSet?
Maybe one of the canvas files is invalid for some reason, and that should fix it.
I did what you said, but this still happens. I hope my log package is helpful in this case.
This is the first time this was happening to me. I edited my canvases like a week ago (when my machines were still on beta 29 or 30). They worked just fine
Thank you for the log packages, I just check to see what could be wrong and I think I found the issue. AbleSet uses the file system’s file ID under the hood to identify canvases, and for some reason the file ID of your “Default Tino 2026” canvas changes each time the canvas is saved.
This is likely caused by the file system of the drive you’re storing the project on, and I’m working on ways to improve the reliability when projects are stored on an ExFAT-formatted drive. In the meantime, moving your project to your computer’s drive should help.
Yeah, i’m typically running everything off a Samsung T7 external SSD, so i can work on the project when i’m at home and bring it on stage, by just plugging in the SSD to my stagerack.
If both your home computer and stage rack are Macs, you could also try formatting your SSD to APFS using Disk Utility. Just make sure you backup your data before so you can copy it to the formatted SSD afterwards.
ExFAT is good in terms of compatibility with Windows, but it’s not as modern as APFS and lacks some features.
Yeah, will do that. Currently backing up all the files from one SSD to another and will perform the APFS-reformat after that. Thanks for pointing that out =)
