AUDIENCE page - REQUEST songs (from Setlist), QR codes for Venmo Tips, extra Canvas lockdown securityetc

Since I recently see 2 features added to Ableset (beta) that I did not predict (the Mixer, and the Canvas), I might as well toss this into the mix.

For us ON-STAGE gigging musicians, in gigs where TIPPING is common, imagine a placard on every table (put there by the musician), with a QR code that opens up a Web page (which is an Ableset Canvas, via the wireless Router via the musician).

On this page, the Audience user can see/do 4 things (2 of which it already does), in a simple / secure layout:

1> Hyperlinks for tipping (go to Venmo, Paypal, etc), and a Hyperlink that launches the Musician’s website or contact info

2> The (currently playing in Ableset) Song LYRICS (clip or image) is displayed (so the Audience User engages…can sing along, or just appreciate the talent)

3> See a list of Songs (which is of course the Ableset Setlist),
{{{ or even (new feature) an alternative Setlist [.json file] with songs displayed in composer/alpha sort order (that would be helpful for the Audience user), and maybe a new flag could be created (like “+NoShow”) and these Songs would NOT show in the Audience Setlist Canvas…this would allow for Surprise-Songs from the Artist }}}

4> (new feature) The Audience User can Tap a Song in the list, and another window would pop up with the ability to enter [a] a Name, [b] a compliment/comment, and [c] SEND it (yes the Ableset system would somehow send it …a text or email) to the musician (via some secure info in Ableset setup). *{Then, the musician has a cell on-stage, or something, and between songs monitors the incoming message thread of Audience SONG REQUESTS…and can interact, even using the persons Name, and can see Tips received via Venmo/Paypal updates, etc etc). *

Important Extra Security: the Audience Users do NOT see, and cannot access or hit, anything on that Canvas that would disrupt the show (so obviously, cannot change the Setlist, cannot open any other Ableset Canvas or screen, etc…the Audience User Page is all locked down).

Well, yes this is a very different Feature Request…
“It never hurts to ask”.

btw, There are several TIPPING apps that have the above functions 1, 3, & 4 already on the market (but of course, the song list must be separately managed). Yet re: #2, NONE of the apps have scrolling Song lyrics…that would be terrific. So THIS Ableset “Audience User” Canvas solution would be in a league all its own. These existing Tipping apps charge a monthly fee$ also. And on this $ topic, I say this – Ableset is such a value, that I would not object to paying a (1x or monthly fee) for an Audience “Tipjar” “Scrolling Lyrics” “Request a Song” canvas.

Those would be great additions for me as well - especially the song requests for when we do live band karaoke. There are not many/very good options in that realm right now, and it would make those gigs way easier to manage in the moment.

That’s an interesting idea! I’ll see if I can add features to the canvas to make this kind of setup easier to create.

One simple addition would be the ability to place images on the canvas, maybe with the ability to set a link that is opened when the image is clicked.

A more advanced addition could be a feature that lets you define custom elements with HTML/CSS/JS that have access to all OSC values and can send OSC commands.

Yes, for TipJar and Musician Website, such hyperlinks would be a terrific leap toward this “Audience Canvas”.

Re: Song Requests, If I were to guess, it may be quite challenging to make all the songs listed in a Ableset Setlist into “hyperlinks” (so they could launch a Song Request screen). If indeed that is a big mountain to climb, perhaps in the short-term, if the User could hit a “Request a Song” Icon image, and a screen popped up, and the User was able to type in their Song Request info, and hit SEND, then that too would be a terrific leap toward this Audience Canvas.
btw, is there OSC that does any SEND (email?) functionality?

Leo,
Thanks all you do and BE!

I’ll see what I can do

You could use AbleSet’s notify commands for this. This will display either a toast or a full screen notification on your device.
