It is mildly troubling, every time I launch AS, that there is no immediate hour-glass, no immediate splash page, no nothing…. On my Windows 11 laptop (i9 chip, a real beast), several several several seconds pass before AS acknowledges it is starting. SO my request is simply…it would be nice if there was some immediate confirmation that AS is starting.
Hey @nevillewhitemusic,
Could you send me a video of what this looks like on your end? AbleSet shouldn’t need that long to start, I just tested it on my end and it took around 1 second from clicking the icon to the status window appearing.
I’m looking forward to your reply! ![]()
I just made a video, and will upload.
If my computer has been rebooted, and AS is loading for the 1st time since reboot, it takes 13 seconds for AS to pop up (and then a bit more to load after plugins, etc). About 13 seconds on both my rebooted beefy intel i7 and i9 laptops.
Yet, if AS has been started previously, and then QUIT, it only takes 2 seconds for AS to relaunch. So this is really not a priority at all…it just freaks me out every time AS takes such a long time after reboot.
(If by chance you know of some “runtimes” or frameworks that are taking this time to load, perhaps I can get WIndows to load them on reboot instead. If you have any suggestion, lmk)
thanks as ALWAYS
Hey @nevillewhitemusic,
That’s indeed a long time!
I did a bit of research and the slow first start might be caused by an antivirus software checking AbleSet in the background while it’s starting. If you have one enabled, could you try adding an exception for AbleSet and check if that makes a difference?
I’m looking forward to your reply! ![]()
I only currently have the imbedded native Windows11 virus apps. But I will see if I can exclude AS.
But I arrive in Europe next week for a month vacation, and I will be so NOT distracted, that I will pounce on this, and bunched of other AS development.
thanks a bunch
