After updating to Ableset 2.7.0 I’m having issues using ablenet. Currently I have an M1 Mac connected to a Windows 10 PC via an ethernet cable. They both have static IPs. WiFi is turned off. I’m able to ping the other computer on both.
When I turn on able net on the Mac without the Ethernet cable connected, it adds a section, called “ablenet on unnamed”. Normally I’d expect the new section to say “ablenet on Lexs-MacBook-pro”. Not sure if this is a bug or if I’m doing something wrong. Same thing on the pc
When I connect the ethernet cable nothing happens. Then on the Mac I type the ip of the PC into the box labeled “connect to custom ips”. Then it correctly names the section, and a new section pops up with the name of the pc. But every few seconds it seems to disconnect then immediately reconnect.
Nothing changes on the pc, it still says 0 hosts connected.
I’m a little confused on what I should be typing into the “connect to custom IPs” box. Is it the ip of the computer listed or the ip of the computer I want to connect to.
Please fill out these values to make it easier to troubleshoot:
I’m having the same issue with one computer being a Mac and another being the Windows PC. The Mac is being controlled by Ableset fine but the PC won’t.
Also I noticed that Ableset doesn’t stay open on PC. Is that normal?
Please excuse my late reply on this thread! I’ve been trying to troubleshoot this issue for a while but haven’t been able to reproduce it on my end, unfortunately.
Could you send me a log package of both computers so I can take a closer look at what might be causing the connection issues in your setup? You can create one by opening AbleSet’s status window, clicking the settings icon on the top right, and then selecting “Create Log Package”.
I’ve been able to reproduce the issue on my end but haven’t found a fix for this yet, unfortunately. I’ll let you know when I make any progress on this. I’m sorry that this is taking so long
I just released a new version of AbleSet that should fix the issues you were experiencing with AbleNet. Could you update to AbleSet 2.7.2 and check if it also works on your end?
I installed the new version on both computers and fired them up. At first, both computers had Ablenet turned on but wouldn’t connect to each other. I checked to make sure they could ping each other and they could. Then, on the B computer I tried to turn off ablenet then turn it back on but I couldn’t click the toggle switch to get it back on… In fact I couldn’t click any toggle switches. I rebooted the computer and still had the same problem. On my A computer I tried to do the same thing with the same result. Now after restarting both Ablesets, I cannot flip any toggle switches or click any songs. My midi controller still works fine. I can still click the buttons in the top bar.
Just to be clear, after a fresh restart and no other computers connected. All buttons are un-usable except the ones on the top bar, drop-down menus, and the ones along with the edit setlist button.
I’m sorry about that! AbleSet 2.7.4 should fix the issue you encountered after disabling AbleNet. Could you update to it and check if this new version works for you?
Sorry for the late response. I’ve installed 2.7.4 on both my machines. I’m no longer having the problem where the buttons don’t work.
Now, my A computer says 2 hosts connected and my B computer says 1 host connected. When I click the “2 Hosts” button on my A machine, it lists both computers but next to the B computer it says “(offline)”.
When I move around the setlist on the A computer, the B computer follows. When I move around the setlist on the B computer, the A computer does not follow.
Both computers can ping each other. They are connected via an ethernet cable and wifi is turned off.
