Per-device timing offset for Canvas Lyrics

Hi @leolabs ,

I currently use three iPads for IEM Mix, Bass Notes and FOH. The Bass Notes iPad is connected over Wi-Fi, displaying sheet music as full-screen SVG images in a Canvas Lyrics element. The other devices are connected through Ethernet.

I’m aware of track-name offsets such as [-200ms] (as an example), but these affect every client viewing the same lyrics track.

Would it be possible to add a per-device or per-browser display timing offset that also applies to Canvas Lyrics and full-screen images? Ideally, it would:

  • Be adjustable in milliseconds, with zero as the default.
  • Persist locally across browser reloads.
  • Clearly indicate whether the content appears earlier or later.
  • Combine with the existing track offset.

The adjustment should affect only that client’s display, leaving other clients, clip timing, audio, MIDI and transport unchanged.

The offset could be configured in the Devices section, within the corresponding device’s settings.

As a separate question / feature request: could preloading upcoming sheet-music images help reduce pauses if image loading is contributing to them?

Thanks! :heart_on_fire:

Hey @Tabora, I just released a new beta that allows you to specify a delay on the Lyrics element in your Canvas. This can either be a static value or a dynamic one using a template. If the offset is negative, lyrics are shown earlier than the playhead, which should cover your use case.

If you just pass a number like “-200” or add a “ms” suffix like “-200ms”, the delay is interpreted in milliseconds. If you add an “n” suffix, the delay is interpreted in beats. This delay is combined with the existing track offset.

Let me know if this works for you!
