Control over Audio Devices

Hi @leolabs, this could be a crazy request and impossible, but thought I’d throw it out there anyways!

We use Waves Soundgrid to run our tracks to our LV1 console, sometimes when switching save files on the LV1, it disconnects the Mac Mini and disables Ableton’s audio engine, I then have to go back in and re-enable the audio engine for it to connect back with Waves Soundgrid… it’s a little annoying cause the Mac Mini lives in a rack backstage, so I have to jump off stage to go do that. It’s mainly annoying cause I can do pretty much everything else I could ever want from within Ableset :face_savoring_food:

I guess my request is kind of 2-in-1…

1 - Is there a way to make an error screen of some kind that comes up on Ableset devices when the audio engine is disabled in Ableton? Maybe this can be toggled on and off in the settings for those that may not want it

2 - Now this one is even more of a stretch, but if that error window came up and then you have the functionality of re-enabling the audio engine and choosing your output device… that would be prettty cool! I understand this might be impossible, I may just be dreaming at this point

Our Midas M32C console will sometimes not register itself on our Mac Mini we first power up the rack. When that happens Ableton falls back to the internal speaker device. Not pleasant when you’re starting a live show.

Both options would be great but certainly an error screen would be very helpful

Hey @Adam_Molinaro, thank you for your suggestion!

Unfortunately, Live doesn’t expose any information about selected audio devices or its engine state through its API, so I can’t show it in AbleSet or offer functions to change it.

If this becomes available in the future, it would be a cool addition to the app!

No worries at all, I figured that might be the case
